Frequently asked questions
Short answers on how the platform works for each party. Didn't find yours? Write to us.
Founders
Does it cost anything to sign up as a founder?
No. The free “Bidaya” plan is enough to start: a project profile, a data room and a limited number of “Ask a specialist” requests each month. If you need more, there are two paid monthly plans — see the pricing page.
What will investors see of my project?
At first, only an anonymised teaser. Your private data is shown only if an investor requests an intro and you accept. If you open your data room to them, they must sign an NDA first, and every document is shown with a watermark carrying their name.
Does the platform guarantee I'll find an investor?
No. The platform makes introductions easier and organises information, but it guarantees no investor or deal; any agreement is made directly between you and the investor, at your own responsibility.
What is “Ask a specialist”?
A request you send to a specific service provider (a law or accounting firm, a funder or a virtual office, for example) to answer your question. The provider receives only your name, email and message, and any later engagement is directly between you and them.
What is the procedures guide?
Practical steps for legal form, registration, tax and licensing in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, open to everyone without signing up. It's general information that may change, so check with a specialist before acting.
Investors
Do investor accounts cost anything?
No, investor accounts are free. Only the optional AI tools — such as KPI reports, project comparisons and investment memos — are paid with points.
How do I request an intro?
Request an intro from the teaser of a project that interests you. The founder accepts or declines; once accepted, you can contact them and enter the data room after signing the NDA. There's a weekly cap on requests to keep quality high.
Who verifies project data?
Project data is provided by the founder and the platform doesn't guarantee its accuracy. Due diligence is your responsibility — consult qualified advisers before any decision.
Does the platform give investment advice?
No. startupme is an introduction and information platform, not an adviser or financial intermediary, and AI outputs are general information that may be wrong.
Service providers
Who are the service providers?
Funders, law and legal-advisory firms, accounting firms and virtual offices on a fixed annual subscription unrelated to any deal. Each category page ranks them by the type of paid subscription, paid ads are marked “AD”, and a subscription is not an endorsement by the platform.
Can a service provider see my project?
No, unless you turn on “Visible to service providers”. If you do, access depends on the provider's subscription and monthly quota, and you can turn it off any time. Providers only receive an aggregated, anonymised market report.
How does my organisation join as a service provider, and what does it cost?
The subscription is annual and fixed; plans and prices are on the “Join as a service provider” page. Send a request from there and our team will follow up with the contract.
Points and payment
What's the difference between a plan and points?
A plan is a monthly founder subscription that sets your quotas (contact requests, data rooms, documents). Points are a separate balance you top up and spend on AI assistants and add-ons such as visibility boosts.
How long are points valid?
12 months from the purchase of each pack, and the points expiring soonest are used first. Points are only deducted when an AI service completes successfully.
Are points refundable?
Points can't be exchanged for cash. Under the proposed refund policy, a pack with no points used may be refunded within 14 days of purchase; used or expired points are not. The refund terms are still pending final approval.
Do you take a commission?
No, from no party. Our revenue comes only from subscriptions, points and fixed service-provider subscriptions, and deal money never passes through the platform.
Is payment secure?
Payments go through the Egyptian gateway Kashier; you enter card details directly with them and the platform doesn't store them.
Privacy and security
Do you sell my data?
No. We collect only what's needed to run the platform and use no advertising trackers. There are only two cookies: one for login-session security and one to remember your language.
Does the AI see my data?
Requests are processed by providers (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google) outside Egypt, usually in the United States, after personal data is automatically removed, and your account data is never sent to them.
Can I export my data and delete my account?
Yes, directly from settings: export all your data as JSON, and delete your account. For any other request, write to privacy@octasolutions.net.
What is the verified handover?
A service that helps the seller and buyer of a digital project document every delivered item with digital fingerprints and a certificate. The platform is a neutral technical registrar: not a party to the deal, holding no money, and its automated checks are limited and not a security or legal audit.
